30 days in a row random Poem Challenge: Day 1 UFO Motel

The  UFO Motel:
They checked into the UFO Motel
A little motel in the middle of nowhere
On a road to nowhere
That wasn’t on the map.

They arrived in the middle of the night
Lost and exhausted
They had seen the flashing neon sign
The sign read:
Vacancy
All kinds welcome

They pulled their numb bodies out of their vehicle
Stumbling up to the clerk’s office.
Swinging the glass door open
They made their way to the counter
Nearly collapsing from the long journey

There was no one behind the counter
So they rang the bell
A beam of white light shot up from the floor
The light dissipated and in front of them stood a man
He was a skinny fellow
With a dingy brown mustache and a unabrow
His teeth were crooked
At least those that remained
“A room please?” they said.

The man behind the counter handed them a key
“Room 13 at the end of the Hall---enjoy your stay”
They shambled down the hall
Dragging their baggage behind them
They reached the door and scanned the key
The door slide up

They stepped inside the room
Throwing their bags on the floor
They unzipped their spacesuits
Laying on the bed
Their green tentacles pulsating
Their 6 eyes blinking closed as they fell asleep.

The Snowman that Shivered

Built with love and warmth
By smiling children
His body is icy cold
And severely chilling

They built him up
From the cold, cold snow
If they could only really know
How freezing it was to be made of snow

They gave him eyes
With which to see
A branch for a mouth
His nose a carrot
A hat of wool
A blue scarf
And Red Gloves they placed on the end
Of his thin stick arms

But with no pants
Or shirt to wear
Or anything to represent hair
He sat there frozen
And just stared

The snowmen shivered
As if it would matter
He didn’t even have teeth
With which to chatter

The air was chill
A wintry breeze
If he had legs
He would be shaking his knees

He watched the children
Sipping on their hot cocoa
Safe and warm inside their house

The night grew colder and colder
As the sun went down.
He saw them gathered around a fire
“Oh it must be warm inside” He pondered

So without legs with which to move
He slide
One inch at a time
Toward his doom

Hours later
In the deep freeze of early morn
The time of night when Icicles form
He made it to the doorway
He stood under the light
Trying to sneak inside tonight

He began to feel it
As he opened the door.
He could smell more than carrots now
As he slide wetly across the wood floor

The fire was still going
They hadn’t put it out
He was so happy he wanted to shout

He sat himself in a fireside chair
Thinking about how pleasant it was there.
It felt so good
The glowing heat
He wondered how nice it must be for the kids
To warm their feet.

The warm alone wasn’t good enough
That hot chocolate he had watched the kids drink
Maybe he would try a cup.

But as he rose up
And tried to move
He realized he was about a foot shorter
Then when he had entered the room

Then the little kids dog arrived
And begin to yelp
The snowman with his stick mouth
Tried to say “go get help”

The dog just barked
As his arms feel out
The dog grabbed the stick arms
And continued its yelp

He tried to move
But he was melting fast
The warm paradise he dreamed of
Too good to last.

They found what was left of him the very next morning
A puddle by the fire with a dog and a stick in his mouth.
“Bad dog” They yelled.

The next day
A New Snowman was born.
Built by smiling kids
From a house that looked of so warm
The Snowman he stood outside and shivered

I think I Saw A Leprechaun ( a poem)

I think I saw a Leprechaun

March 17, 2010 at 5:38pm
I think I saw a Leprechaun
Down at the pub last night
He was drinking from a shiny boot
And looking for a fight

He was dressed all in green
With a funny hat
That read in Rhinestones
“Just call me PAT”

In one arm he carried a pot of gold
Held snug against his body tight
The other when not upon his drink
Made a fist ready to deliver a mighty right

He cursed and swore in a thick accent
That only Benny Hill might understand
He boasted about his drinking skills
While staggering around
He could barely stand

At one point in the evening
He got up upon the bar and begin to dance
He did a jig to a to a song by Pink
That nearly made me wet my pants.

“Where’s your Lucky Charms”
“Let’s have that pot of gold”
“You can’t out drink me Wee Man”
Were drunk comments yelled that got a little old

But out drink them each and everyone
The Leprechaun did
Winning bar bets left and right
Hiding the winning in his pot out of sight

At last call he stood up
As if he hadn’t drunk a thing
Strutted out the bar
The buckles on his shoes did ring

He saw him turn down the street
Then a brilliant shaft of colored light
Beamed up a giant rainbow
That lit up the starry night.

The Pumpkin That Ate People (A Halloween Poem_

The Pumpkin that Ate People

It was carved with an ancient knife
A knife that had a past.
A past that with filled with horror

It had a sinister smile
It's expression seemed to change in the flickering candle light

Its first victim was the man that carved it
A man named Carl
Almost immediately he knew there was something different about it
It seemed to mock him with its devious looking grin

Carl stepped away from it
Walking across the room
The pumpkin's eyes seemed to move
It’s gaze following him

Carl went to the fridge
Grabbing a beer he closed the door of the fridge
Looking over his shoulder at his creation
It glared back at him with a look of pure hatred

Carl picked up his cell phone
Walking past the pumpkin
Giving it a wide berth
“Hey Fred….Get over here” He Said.

Carl explained to Fred about the pumpkin
He could hear laughter on the other end of the line
He looked back toward the kitchen
The pumpkin was no longer there

Carl dropped his phone
Something grabbed his leg
Pulling him behind the couch.
Fred's  voice could be heard coming out of the phone on the floor
“Carl….are you alright?”
In return there were only screams.

Fred arrived at his friends house
An empty cop car was parked out front
He ran up to the door
All he found was a trail of blood and some pumpkin seeds
A trial that lead  through the house and out the back door.

He grabbed a blood soaked police radio and spoke into it
“Be on the look out…for a large Orange Pumpkin”
“It has a taste for human blood"

The Lazy, Not So Frightening Blob (A Halloween Poem)

The Lazy, Not So Frightening Blob
The Blob just sat there
In the middle of the intersection
Quivering
Shaking
Scaring nobody

No one ran away from the Blob
They just gathered and pointed
Angrily honking their horns as they drove around its jellylike mass

A group of kids had gathered
Poking it with sticks
As it sat listless
Uninterested in terrorizes a single person

Days past
It hadn’t moved at all
The police had set up tape and cones around it to keep the public away
Diverting traffic away from it.

Scientist gathered to study it
Taking samples of it for analysis
Trying different things to measure its reaction
They burned it with fire
Sprayed water on it
Nothing seemed to phase it at all

Weeks past
People went about their lives
The scientists had left
A tourist business had blossomed around it
People stopped to pose for pictures with it

Day turned to night
Night turned to day
The Blob remained
Motionless

Super Hot Devil Girlfriend (10/13/2010)

She was my super hot sexy devil girlfriend
I meet her at a Halloween party
She wore red high heeled boots
She had cute little horns on her head
Blond hair with a  black bikini
And her skin was colored red

When I kissed her it was so very hot
Burning hot desire
Smoke came out of my ears
My lips felt like they were on fire

She offered to be my girlfriend
Said we would have to make a deal
I said sure where you I sign
Then she told me her red skin and horns were real

I took her to the prom
Against the advice of my mom
We walked in together arm in arm
Her presence set off the fire alarm

She was burning up the dance floor
No really she left a trail of fire
As she twirled round and round
A vortex of flame and smoke
Came bubbling up from the ground

She was super hot
I mean smoking
The hottest girl in town
No other girls would even talk to me
Whenever she was around

She had quite a   temper
A jealous streak one might say
If you made her angry
There was going to be hell to pay.

In bed she was super hot
She literally burned the sheets
Doing the kind  of stuff
That other girls would not

She told me she was a She-devil
Born in the underworld
That I was hers forever
My super hot devil girl
Until the sands of time unfurl

The Mininons of Doom ( A facebook poem request (10/01/2010)

Something you may not know about
Every time that you leave a room
That room gets a visit
From the Minions of Doom

The Devils Minions
As they are sometimes called
They predate civilization
And are furry and bald

Red skinned little creatures
About 1 foot tall
They hide behind closet doors
Creep down the hall

Whenever you leave they enter the room
Wearing Mexican Wrestler masks to hide their hideous faces
They move things around
Putting them in different places

So next time you can’t find that remote
Or its looks like someone took a sip of your coke
Or you find a rip in your brand new coat

Listen carefully for the scurry of little feet
As the Minions of Dooms
Make their retreat

Whenever you find that your life is in gloom
Go ahead and blame the minions of doom

Devilish little creatures
Like  Gremlins you say?
Oh but they are much worse by far
They will record 20 Miley Cyrus episodes on your DVR

They will clog up your toilet
Cut the brakes on your car
Pee in your lemonade
Eat your last Snicker Bar

So beware!
Take warning!
When you enter the room
It may have been visited by the Minions of Doom
