I think I Saw A Leprechaun ( a poem)

I think I saw a Leprechaun

March 17, 2010 at 5:38pm
I think I saw a Leprechaun
Down at the pub last night
He was drinking from a shiny boot
And looking for a fight

He was dressed all in green
With a funny hat
That read in Rhinestones
“Just call me PAT”

In one arm he carried a pot of gold
Held snug against his body tight
The other when not upon his drink
Made a fist ready to deliver a mighty right

He cursed and swore in a thick accent
That only Benny Hill might understand
He boasted about his drinking skills
While staggering around
He could barely stand

At one point in the evening
He got up upon the bar and begin to dance
He did a jig to a to a song by Pink
That nearly made me wet my pants.

“Where’s your Lucky Charms”
“Let’s have that pot of gold”
“You can’t out drink me Wee Man”
Were drunk comments yelled that got a little old

But out drink them each and everyone
The Leprechaun did
Winning bar bets left and right
Hiding the winning in his pot out of sight

At last call he stood up
As if he hadn’t drunk a thing
Strutted out the bar
The buckles on his shoes did ring

He saw him turn down the street
Then a brilliant shaft of colored light
Beamed up a giant rainbow
That lit up the starry night.
