30 days in a row random Poem Challenge: Day 4 To Leap or Not to Leap

He stood at the edge of the cliff
Contemplating what to do
Should he jump or turn back
Many before him had made this decision
Some had hesitated
Some and leaped with reckless abandon

He was different
He stood there and thought
Chaos all around him
Screams echoing in his ears
So much anguish
So much pain

He thought about what to do
What did he have to look forward to?
What could his future hold if he turned back?
What could he accomplish?
Then instinct took over
The Lemming jumped

30 days in a row random Poem Challenge: Day 3 "Cheesy Poofs" --a random title suggested by a relative

After nearly 40 auditions
And not a single role
It was getting bleak
Until he got the call

“Would you consider?”
“Could you see yourself ?”
“It’s a great opporuntity “
“No ....you aren’t playing an Elf”

A large ball he wore around his waist
Orange paint covered his entire face.
A wig he wore upon his head
He was starting to wish he had said no instead

He danced and sang at the local mall
The children laughed
They were having a ball

This wasn’t his plan
It definitely wasn’t  a dream role
To be a large orange dust covered ball
But times are rough
So now he is a member of “The Cheesy Poofs”

30 days in a row random Poem Challenge: Day 2 Where all the Socks Go

Have you ever wondered where that matching sock is?
Where could it have gone?

Well it doesn’t have legs with which to walk away.
It should remain where I left it when I come back later that day
But it isn’t there
It is nowhere to be found
Believe me I’ve looked all over the ground

I dispelled one rumor years ago
That under the couch there is a black hole

The other day I figured out the truth
I’m sure you heard of the Fairy that takes your tooth

Well it is sort of like that
But it isn’t a gremlin, an elf or a cat
Surprisingly it is something much larger than that

Sleek and stealthy it moves in the dark
Without any noise, not even a bark

Black as night it sneaks into the room
Scooping up socks just like a vacuum

Quickly it moves around
Its nose to the ground
 Just like a hound
But a hound that size??
Well that is  just insane
No the Sock eating monster
Is actually a Great Dane

30 days in a row random Poem Challenge: Day 1.5 The Cardboard Astronaut (Starting again)

The Cardboard Astronaut

He was a cardboard astronaut
Flying two dimensional missions
To save the galaxy
From the dangerous outer spacemen

His mother was starting to worry
He would sit in that cardboard box for hours on end
Just making laser blast sound effects
As the box rocked back and forth
On the floor of his room

Each day he spent more and more time in his cardboard spaceship
They would call to him
“Billy time for dinner”
But he would never come out until his mission was complete
They would knock on the box
But they would be no reply
Then suddenly his mission would be over
He would emerge from the box in his astronaut underwear
He never spoke about what happened in the box
Other than to say “I have to save the planet Mom”

The next morning in the middle of breakfast he stood up
“I have to go ---they need me now” He said
His mother yelled at him
“Come back to this table right now young man”
He just kept running

His mom followed him down the hallway
She watched as he leapt into the cardboard spaceship
He closed the lid
The realistic sounds of laser fire came from the box
She heard what sounded like an explosion
And then Billy screamed
She pried open the lid and Billy was gone.

30 days in a row random Poem Challenge: Day 1 UFO Motel

The  UFO Motel:
They checked into the UFO Motel
A little motel in the middle of nowhere
On a road to nowhere
That wasn’t on the map.

They arrived in the middle of the night
Lost and exhausted
They had seen the flashing neon sign
The sign read:
Vacancy
All kinds welcome

They pulled their numb bodies out of their vehicle
Stumbling up to the clerk’s office.
Swinging the glass door open
They made their way to the counter
Nearly collapsing from the long journey

There was no one behind the counter
So they rang the bell
A beam of white light shot up from the floor
The light dissipated and in front of them stood a man
He was a skinny fellow
With a dingy brown mustache and a unabrow
His teeth were crooked
At least those that remained
“A room please?” they said.

The man behind the counter handed them a key
“Room 13 at the end of the Hall---enjoy your stay”
They shambled down the hall
Dragging their baggage behind them
They reached the door and scanned the key
The door slide up

They stepped inside the room
Throwing their bags on the floor
They unzipped their spacesuits
Laying on the bed
Their green tentacles pulsating
Their 6 eyes blinking closed as they fell asleep.
